Year of the Rooster!

Happy Chinese New Year!  2017 is the Year of the Rooster- my year!

It wouldn't be new years without some handmade lucky envelopes for my kids, niece's & nephew!

I pulled out my favorite animal set to make these, Lunar Animals & Lunar Extras from Mama Elephant!

Year of the Rooster

I originally intended for them to be much simplier, but it just wouldn't come together for me- so I created this sweet scene!

I used a Pretty Pink Posh Stitched Tag die and stamped the flower branch & rooster, colored with copics. I made the mini envelope using my envelope punch board and layered red glitter paper under the tag. It was still missing *something*... I die cut the flag (basic stitched flag) and stamped & gold embossed the, "Gong Hay Fat Choy" sentiment too look like a traditional New Years banner hanging from the tree branch! I finished them off with another rooster on the back mounted with foam tape so the flap of the envelope tucks under it.

Copics:
Rooster: E23, E25, E27, B37, Y35, R37, R46
branches: E53, E55, E57, RV00, RV02, RV06, YG61, YG63, YG67

Wishing you all a Prosperous & Happy New Year!

Year of the Monkey!

Before I jump on the Valentine train... I had to make something for Chinese New Year first! This year it falls on Feb. 8, according to the lunar calendar- 2016 is the year of the Monkey!

I totally fell in LOVE with the Lunar Animals & Extra sets from Mama Elephant and *HAD TO HAVE THEM!* The past couple of years I've made my own lucky red envelopes to give my kids, nieces, and nephew- and these stamps are just perfect!

Year of the Monkey

I created my scene using the plum branches and lanterns- and thought it was a perfect perch for the sweet little monkey! I also stamped and fussy cute another monkey for the back- I placed a small piece of foam tape on the the bottom half of his body, leaving part behind his head free to keep the envelope flap closed.

And since these are for Chinese *NEW* Year- I'm entering them in the Something New challenge over at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge!

Thanks for stopping by... now to get started on those Valentines!

Happy Chinese New Year!

My family celebrated Chinese New Year this week with lots of food & family time!

& of course the New Year wouldn't be complete without some lucky red envelopes for my son, nieces & nephew. It's the Year of the Goat, but unfortunately I didn't have any goat stamps or images to put on them! But how can you go wrong with some sweet little panda bears?

CNY Red Envelopes

This adorable panda is Shin Shin from Sister Stamps- I just adore him!

Here's my son all decked out in his Chinese outfit wishing you all a Happy & Prosperous New Year!

Can't wait for the next New Years when we will have another addition to our family... our little baby girl is due to arrive in April!  I can't believe how fast time is flying!

Off to enjoy the gorgeous weather we're having today in AZ!

My mom is amazing... everything was sooo good!

The past couple of years I have been making my own red "lai si" envelopes to give my nieces. I love finding super cute images to put on them- and this year was no exception. I just *HAD* to use these adorable Sister Stamps Yoshimi on them!

Happy Chinese New Year!

I'm back again this time sharing some Chi Chi Memories cuteness :) I decided to use the super cute Little Hoodie freebie again this week- and colored her up in traditional red & gold colors for my card- just in time for Chinese New Year! :) Chinese New Year this year falls on January 31st- Friday! & It's the Year of the Horse... what's your sign?

Happy Chinese New Year

It's a bit hard to see, but I stamped the background with a lantern border stamp in some Versamark ink for a subtle yet festive background, and embossed gold paper for some added texture! :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Oh & P.S. my Chinese zodiac sign is the Rooster! :)

Year of the SSS-Snake!

恭禧發財! Happy Chinese New Year! It's the Year of the Snake... I'm a rooster- what's your sign?

I've been looking for a CUTE snake to use on cards and things for the lunar new year.. with a little surfing (and blog hopping) I found this adorable little snake from Deasy Designs! I knew I had to make my own "lai si" red envelopes again like I had done a few years ago (post here)...
Year of the Snake
Isn't he just he just the cutest!? (I was inspired by this!) Can't wait to use him again on some other projects!

Wishing all of you a happy and lucky year full of prosperity and good fortune!

Asian Dolls

Back again one more time before the weekend is over! My most awesome sister bought me the new Hero Arts "Four Dolls" set and I couldn't wait to use them! It gave me another opportunity to practice with my copics and have two more cards for the layers challenge.

This first card is similar to the tent topper from my previous post. I wanted to stamp all four girls together, so that layer is centered on the 4.25" square card to make it 5.5" wide and still fit in a regular envelope:

Supplies: Four Dolls (Hero Arts), Glossy Accents (Inkssentials-Ranger), gems, buttons, pearls

Here is a closer look at each one of the girls :)

This other card idea came to me today, and I'm very pleased with how it came out! The characters in each one of the circle collectively say "Gung Hay Fat Choy" or Happy New Year in Chinese. With Chinese New Year coming up in a few weeks I thought it was only fitting to incorporate this stamp to celebrate!

Supplies: Four Dolls (Hero Arts); Gung Hay Fat Choy (Design in Squares), gems, buttons, pearls, string

Thanks for stopping by- & until next time, Happy Stamping!
