Manly or boyish?

I love when I have the time to just sit at my desk & stamp!

I got this Elephant stamp awhile, and even with how cute it is, I forget that I have it! I wasn't going to participate in the Hero Arts 'manly' challenge this week- masculine cards stump me every time! But I needed a card for some cards for my husband's side of the family this coming month. This one is for my brother-in-law- is it manly enough or too boyish?

Not sure why it seems that when there is a long weekend followed by a short work week those work days seem sooo long? Anyway, I am glad we're back to a weekend because that means time to get crafty! Doing my usual blog hopping this week I stumbled across a challenge on the Pink Cat Studio blog that I just had to try! I've had these Sweet Pea stamps and they were calling to be inked!

The rules for the challenge were to make a rectangular card, use two different patterned papers- one in the shape of a square, and one in the circle. Here is what I came up with:

Happy Birthday Mom!

My mom's birthday is later this week, and it gave me the chance to make another card for the Hero Arts challenge!

I had an A-HA! moment for this 'gogreen' card. I remembered I still had some paint swatches I had collected awhile back. I cut them into thin strips and- Voila! Bamboo stalks!

Going Green!

Happy Friday to you all! (& to everyone in the U.S. happy Memorial Day weekend!) I am pleased to be starting my long weekend early :)

We got some unusual rain yesterday & today for May- still a bit cloudy out now but bright enough to take pictures of the cards I've done this week for the Hero Arts 'gogreen' challenge.

I used some pretty common household items on this first card: tissue wrapping paper & laundry dryer sheets! I first cut a scallop window on the card base, and stamped the clouds background on white tissue paper, I adhered a matching white scallop circle on the inside of the card and stamped the sentiment. For added dimension on the bear, I stitched a piece of a laundry dryer sheet for his belly! Before sewing it up all the way around- I stuffed some scraps of the dryer sheet inside to round him out a bit!

For this second card, I had saved the invitation to a wedding we had gone to in January. The invitation and envelope was made from this gorgeous handmade red paper and had beautiful silver foil floral flourishes all over... I knew I was going to save it to use in the future! Who knew it would fit this challenge so perfectly?!?

I also used the RSVP card insert to stamp and punch out the flowers on the bottom of the card. (And since someone asked me on flickr- yes I did RSVP before punching flowers out of it! The wedding was in January (& absolutely gorgeous!)- and I RSVP'd online- you just can't see that detail because I blocked it out for her privacy)

My Cutie-pie Niece!

Hey there- hope you are all enjoying your weekends! I am definitely enjoying sitting in my lovely air-conditioned living room! It's already way too hot (100+ degrees!) outside so its a great for a lazy day of stampin', scrappin' and bloggin'!

Helping out my sister with a page of my super cute niece! Couldn't help but to include it for the dots challenge on Hero Arts- (actually the first scrapbook layout I've done for the challenge). A little difficult to see in the picture, but there are dotted circles randomly stamped in the background along the left side of the page.

Woohoo! It's the weekend! Dots were the theme to this week on the Hero Arts blog, I didn't have as many dots stamps as I thought- but I did have a lot of things and embellishments with dots on them!

I had this idea to make the a butterfly into a kite for sometime now, and what a perfect pair with the Chinese doll!

Happy's Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there! (a day early!)

I'm back again for this card I made for the best mom in the world- Mine! When I got my hands on this stamp set I knew immediately I would use them on a card for my mom! Still going on the 'inspired by' theme on Hero Arts, I liked the layout of another win-a-day winners here. The Chinese doll fits perfectly! The "grass" that she is standing on is embossed with an embossing folder.

I decided with this card to combine 2 challenges, Mojo Monday #85 and Kristina Werner's Color Inspiration #51!




Another great sketch and color combination that I am sure to use again! I'm loving the look of embossing white on white cardstock- you can see in the close up picture the white square the butterflies are mounted on is stamped & embossed in white.

TGIF! I am definitely ready to get this weekend started! And what a better way than with some blog posts?

This week was the announcement of the next win-a-day bloggers on Hero Arts- there are just so many fabulous entries to be inspired by I'm not sure how I'll be able to narrow it down! This card I made for my MIL was inspired by one of the win-a-day bloggers herself- "Quilterlin"- I liked her use of the window and the designblock stamp on this card. So I mimicked that look and put my own twist on it with the butterflies. I am absolutely addicted to this butterfly stamp- its a great stamp for me to practice with my Copic coloring!

Twin Birthdays

Hi! A mid-week post for me! I had some time to stamp last night (mostly due to some procrastination on my part!) Tomorrow is the third birthday of our twin niece & nephew! I had to get these cards done to get them out to the mail in time!

I had this stamp set from Stampin' Up! for awhile- he loves "diggers!" I distressed the edges to rough it up a bit and make it more boyish!

Sunshine & Sakuras

Hooray the weekend is here! Which means plenty of time to be crafty right?! I know I have a list that is a mile long! We are certainly getting lots of sunshine here in Arizona- if only we had sakuras too :)

My awesome sister did it again, and was able to find these ADORABLE stamps in her local store before I could. I got them in the mail this week and could not wait to do something fun wih them!

I'm a little partial to these dolls- they are so stinkin' cute- they remind me of all my little nieces! (I'm still waiting to get the set with the little boy too!) But until then, here is the card that I made for the "mayflowers" challenge over on Hero Arts. I loved the cardd that Lisa Spangler had done here with embossing clear on the white cardstock, I had to try it! A co-worker of mine had given me these fabric sakura flower stickers awhile back too and thought they'd add a nice touch!

Happy 50th!

Its the 50th Color Inspiration Challenge on Kristina Werner's blog! I can't say that I've participted since the beginning- but I really love these challenges.



It took me some time to come up with this one, and my original idea started off so different from my final result! I also wanted to do something different with the ribbon than the usual bow (or no bow at all)- I gave such a different look- I will be doing this more often!


Here's a close of the butterfly and all it's pop-up-ness :). I stamped all my images with brown ink to comply with the "no black allowed" rule.
